Start Your Nursing Career in Finland: A Gateway to European Healthcare

You will go to Finland as a student for a one-year ‘Nursing Top-up Degree’ at the Arcada University of Applied Sciences; the degree awarded after the program is - Bachelor of Healthcare [Nursing] on EU level, [This degree is valid across Europe].

Simultaneously, you will start your internship within a maximum of 45 - 60 days in hospitals, and your monthly stipend is 2250 - 2700 Euros, based on your experience level, which is around 2+ lakhs INR.

Once you complete it, you will be absorbed into the same hospital where you were doing your internship or appointed to a different hospital with a minimum salary ranging from 3,500 Euros.

Activities & Processes in India

  1. Eligibility & Application

    • Academic Eligibility: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc) or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).
    • Experience: A minimum of two years in a nursing role.
    • Language Requirements: School education completed in English. Minimum scores required: IELTS Academic (5.0 to 7.0) or TOEFL® iBT (65 – 90). You can also demonstrate proficiency through diplomas or certificates approved by Arcada University of Applied Sciences. Obtaining A2 level Finnish is necessary before starting studies/working in Finland.
    • Age and Gender Restrictions: There are no restrictions based on age or gender.
  2. Interview

    • After document verification, eligible candidates will be scheduled for an online interview in English, conducted by the university’s authorized center in India.
  3. Application

    • If eligible, we will assist you in verifying your documents and applying. Required documents include:
      • Latest resume
      • Marks cards from 10th, 12th, and nursing degree
      • Nursing degree certificate
      • Passport copy
      • Experience certificate
      • IELTS/TOEFL scores or a certificate confirming English as the medium of instruction.
  4. Offer Letter

    • Selected students will receive a conditional offer letter, which includes the following requirements:
      • Completion of a Pre-Admission Course: An online, pre-recorded session to be completed within two months, followed by an assessment.
      • Finnish Language Classes: Mandatory online classes (two hours, two days a week).
      • Submission of valid English proficiency certificates.
      • Successful completion of the interview to assess language proficiency.
  5. Finnish Language Training Commencement

    • The Pre-Admission Course and Finnish Language Training will begin simultaneously, requiring completion of A1 and A2 levels before traveling to Finland.
  6. Finnish Language Progress Appraisal

    • The university will evaluate your language training completion to ensure adequate communication skills.
  7. VISA Application & Processing

    • We will assist with the visa application process, which requires attending a visa interview in Delhi. The visa will be valid for three years, allowing additional time for B1 language training if necessary.
  8. Time to Fly

    • Once the visa process is complete, you will travel to Finland as per the established plan.

Activities & Processes in Finland

  1. Permanent Accommodation

    • Upon arrival, the university will assist you in finding permanent accommodation. Sharing with fellow students can help reduce costs.
  2. Class Commencement

    • During the first two weeks, the university will provide an overview of the Finnish Healthcare System, essential for your internship preparation.
  3. Practical Training

    • After initial training, you will undergo practical training in a hospital for two weeks, gaining hands-on experience.
  4. Unpaid Internship

    • Following practical training, you will complete a two-week unpaid internship at the same hospital to enhance your skills.
  5. Paid Internship

    • After the unpaid internship, you will transition to a paid internship where you can start earning.
  6. Evaluation

    • Your performance will be evaluated based on credits earned through studies and work over the year.
  7. B1 Finnish Language Training

    • B1 level training will begin concurrently, following the same schedule as previous language classes.
  8. Finishing Line

    • Upon completing the program and internships, you will be awarded a degree and supported in securing full-time employment.
  9. Becoming a Registered Healthcare Professional in Finland

    • After completing B1, you can apply to Valvira, the government registry for healthcare professionals, with guidance from the university.

Additional Information

  • Family Visa: Finland permits family members of students or employees to join them, and they can work without restrictions, provided the relationship is legally binding.

  • What You Will Learn:

    • The program focuses on upskilling, building on your previous education and competencies. An individual study plan will be tailored for each student.
    • The curriculum includes modules on Finnish Nursing Competencies, Finnish Nursing Practice, and practical training, utilizing online and on-campus lectures, workshops, case-based exercises, and simulations.
    • Classes are scheduled for two days a week, each lasting two hours.

Once you fulfill all requirements and complete your training, you'll be positioned as a registered nurse in Finland, earning a monthly salary starting from €3,500.
